2008 Governor's Golf & Fishing Classic
Kansas Wildscape invites you to participate in our 12th Annual Governor’s Golf & Fishing Classic. The golf event takes place Friday, June 13, at Rolling Meadows Golf Course and the fishing tournament on Saturday morning, June 14, at Milford Lake.
This is the fourth year that Milford Lake and Junction City have hosted this event. The wonderful ambiance and amenities of the lake, golf course, and the city and its environs have been great crowd pleasers and have raised the enjoyment level for organizers and participants alike. Wildscape is once again very grateful to the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Junction City, and the Geary County Convention & Visitors' Bureau for their generous and enthusiastic sponsorship of this event, and for all they do to make the Classic a great success year after year. We could not do it without them!
Join us Friday for a day of golf followed by a social, BBQ, and auction. Top-finishing golf teams receive cash prizes. A hole-in-one car & boat will keep the competition keen and exciting.
Those planning to fish the next morning should attend a brief meeting at 5:30 p.m., at which they will be paired with their guides. Let your guide know if you will need fishing gear. Stick around for relaxing social time, free BBQ, and the live and silent auctions.
Early Saturday morning, arrive at the south boat ramp at Milford Lake to compete for the Governor’s Cup and cash prizes. Boats will launch at dawn.
Team prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st Place - Heaviest Walleye Stringer - Governor's Cup and $1500 cash
2nd Place - Heaviest Wiper Stringer - $1000 cash
3rd Place - Heaviest Catfish Stringer - $500 cash
4th Place - 2 entries into the 2009 Governor's Golf & Fishing Classic
Weigh-in begins at noon. Following the tournament, join us for an awards lunch.
Tracker Boats has generously donated a brand-new Nitro Z-6 Bass Boat for our annual raffle. Responsive and beautiful, this boat, powered by an assertive 90-hp Mercury engine, is one of the finest we have ever been privileged to raffle off to a lucky winner.
At a mere $10 per ticket, you can't afford not to try your luck! This year, the drawing for the boat will take place during the Kansas State Fair, September 5-14, where the boat will be on display. This gives you extra time to buy even more tickets!
In what has become a proud tradition for Kansas Wildscape, the Governor's Classic is again honored by the participation of men & women of the US armed forces serving at Fort Riley. Show your support and appreciation by sponsoring one of these fine soldiers in the Fishing Classic for just $200. Even if you are unable to attend the event yourself, by generously sponsoring a soldier, you can have the satisfaction of knowing that you treated one of these deserving soldiers to a day of fun and friendly competition at Milford Lake.
