Cabins for Public Rental Use

Cabin exterior.JPG

Fifteen Wildscape cabins built in cooperation with the KDWP are now installed at Kansas Parks. These modern cabins, featuring full kitchens, baths, and with heating & air conditioning, have received enthusiastic reviews from everyone who has stayed in them. Funding is in place for an additional 10 cabins to be installed in 2007, with up to 130 more cabins being added over the next four years. Cabins are currently in place at Tuttle Creek (4); Perry Lake (4), Cross Timbers Toronto (3); Wilson Lake (2) and Kanopolis (2). Two are currently under construction for Glen Elder, with three more being planned for Tuttle Creek. All cabins are now being constructed at the Kansas Dept. of Corrections by inmates under the supervision of SE Kansas Education Service Center – Greenbush Foundation. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the corrections facility in Hutchinson last fall as the first two cabins were completed. Governor Sebelius praised the program, calling it a “win-win” program for everyone involved. The parks are currently taking reservations for the season – so be sure to call early to secure your dates!
