Thies Pyramid Ranch Pond Restoration Project
The Kansas Wildscape Foundation assisted the American Sportsfishing Association in collaboration with the Kansas Livestock Association, National Cattlemen's Beef Association, and the Thies-Pyramid Ranch, Inc. to issue a grant for the purpose of establishing a pure water source for cattle that would also provide habitat for wetland-associated wildlife. The pond was fenced to keep livestock from directly entering the water. Solar panels were installed to pump the water from the pond to high ground for the cattle. The partnership was an excellent example of environmental groups and cattlemen coming together in a project for the benefit of all.
