2008 O.K. Kids Events
School is almost out and the weather is finally warming up. Kids are ready for some outdoor fun--fun that doesn't have to hurt the pocketbook. Turn off the TV and video games, and herd the kids toward the nearest O.K. Kids event--you'll be glad you did!
Events and dates are listed below--take the kids to as many as you can for a free, fun time in the great Kansas outdoors. If you can't find an event near you, enjoy a day trip to another community, then give us a call later--we can give you pointers on starting an O.K. Kids event in your own community. Every event is unique, and anyone can get one started with local resources and the generous support of Wildscape sponsors.
A rich diversity of planned activities this year includes: fish clinics, casting contests, and other fishing derby events; bike safety & rodeo; skins & skulls identification and live animal displays; archery safety and target practice; canoeing and other water sports; sack races, horseshoes, treasure hunts, and other competitions; birding and birdhouse building; and much, much more!
Many O.K. Kids events feature a free hot dog or hamburger lunch--and there are even some outdoor cooking competitions for the kids. What better way to spend a day with your family than being outdoors and guiding the kids toward a lifelong appreciation for nature? And it's all free!
Be sure to check this site again--a few new events are in the works, and may yet be added to this year's schedule.
